We used to think of the life of our planet as thousands of years. Now, thanks to waste, greed and stupidity we may not have this one.
There is substantial melting of the Greenland ice pack, Horrendous consequences can be be expected. Like most of Florida being several feet underwater, that geological event is well underway. Huge icebergs the size of an an apartment house are breaking off as you read this. There were over 100 glaciers when I honeymooned in Glacier National Park in 1952. Now there are about 30 and they will be gone in a scant decade or two... Are we ready for a glacier National Park without any glaciers ? The plight of the polar bears is particularly sad. They are drowning. The ice floes are too small to support their weight. They can't hunt effectively. So they drown, in their almost perfect habitat. This will go on until they are gone. The bears are superb swimmers, but unless we can cool things down these magnificent creatures are doomed. And I don't think we can. Do you?
Take the bears as a metaphor "Ask not for whom the bell tlls. It tolls for thee "
